Welcome to Kyushu

Kyushu, one of the four major islands of the Japanese archipelago (Hokkaido, Honshu, Kyushu, Shikoku),is located in the southwestern Japan. The local area mainly belongs to a subtropical climate. The kyushu region has many local specialties, ranging from vegetables, fruits, and rice to husbandry products. This area is also famous for its volcanoes, beaches and natural hot springs, attracting millions of tourists every year. Life in Kyushu is very convenient, the food is delicious and cheap, and local residents live in happiness.

Kagoshima(鹿児島県)

Kumamoto(熊本県)

Surrounded by beautiful scenery, Kumamoto Prefecture is a popular tourist attraction with many foreign tourists. Kumamoto has one of the largest volcanic craters in the world, the Mt. Aso crater. Due to the eruption of Mount Aso in ancient time, the groundwater and local soil has been very fertile, allowing the local to have delicious agricultural products and create its unique food culture. The groundwater is now used for tap water in the city. Kumamoto Prefecture is also a hot spring paradise. There are more than 100 hot springs all over the county. People can enjoy the natural hot springs with high quality water which is very beneficial to health.

 

Nagasaki(長崎県)

Nagasaki Prefecture is located in the northwestern of Kyushu, the westernmost point of mainland Japan, and has established a unique international culture. Nagasaki is a city rich in history and full of exotic atmosphere. Surrounded by the sea on three sides, Nagasaki offers a natural beauty of many peninsulas and islands. The number of islands is 594, the highest in Japan. Surrounded by clear ocean, the beautiful island has fantastic charm. During the Edo period, Nagasaki was Japan’s only spot for overseas trade. Therefore, it was influenced by the West and China, creating a unique local culture that reflects in daily life through local architecture, food, festivals, etc.

 

Oita(大分県)

Oita Prefecture is located in the eastern part of the Kyushu region. Because of the Kue Mountains, the Seto Inland Sea and the Bungo Waterway, Oita allows visitors to fully enjoy the nature of beauty and the hot springs every day. The number of hot springs (4,538) and the volume of spring water 291,340 L/min both rank the first in Japan.Beppu Hot Spring in Beppu Bay and Yufuin Hot Spring in the middle of the prefecture are well-known nationwide. In addition, it ranks the first in terms of geothermal power generation. Overall, from agriculture planting, aquaculture to beauty and medical treatment, Oita makes full use of the resource-rich hot springs.

 

Saga(佐賀県)

Saga Prefecture is located in the northern part of Kyushu and is the smallest amongst the seven prefectures. Its main economic structure is service industry, manufacturing, construction, agriculture, forestry and fishery industry. The output of seaweed ranks the first in Japan, and the output of tangerine, rice and wheat is also abundant. The local characteristic industry is ceramics, the most famous of which are pottery called Karatsu-yaki, Arita-yaki and Imari-yaki. It has rich historical and cultural heritage and numerous cultural relics. The international hot air balloon competition held every year improves the splendor of Saga Prefecture.
